Menstrual Health and Mental Wellness
In honor of the International Day of Rural Women and Girls, Humble Treats Foundation partnered with Husinah Hope Foundation, Eco Warriors, and other dedicated organizations to address a critical issue in Budondo Sub County—menstrual health and mental wellness. This celebration brought together community members, advocates, and volunteers with the theme, Breaking the Silence, Breaking the Stigma, focusing on the importance of menstrual health education and mental wellness in rural communities.
Empowering Rural Women
Objectives of the Event:
- To provide education on menstrual health and hygiene
Through workshops and interactive sessions, we aimed to break myths and provide accurate information, allowing girls to better understand their bodies and manage their health. - To foster mental wellness and resilience
We engaged participants in discussions on mental wellness, encouraging them to recognize the importance of mental health and seek help when needed. - To break the stigma associated with menstruation and mental health
By creating an open dialogue, we aimed to normalize these conversations and empower women and girls to advocate for themselves. - To supply essential resources for menstrual hygiene
The distribution of sanitary pads was a practical step towards supporting girls’ education by reducing absenteeism and improving confidence.
Impact
The event left a lasting impact on the lives of rural women and girls, equipping them with knowledge and resources that will serve them for years to come. However, there is a need for ongoing support to expand these initiatives across more rural communities. With donor contributions, Humble Treats Foundation aims to continue these efforts, providing resources, educational programs, and community support to break the cycle of silence and stigma.
By supporting this initiative, donors can play a pivotal role in empowering rural women and girls, promoting menstrual health, and fostering mental wellness in communities that need it most. Together, we can create a future where every girl is confident, healthy, and empowered to reach her full potential.
